Rooted Here

The community that raised her

I was born and raised in Abington, attended Abington Public Schools, and grew up in the same community where my husband, George, and I are now raising our two young children.

Family has always been at the center of who I am. Growing up as one of four kids taught me the importance of working together, looking out for one another, and appreciating the people and community around you.

Family. Community. Home.

The people who shaped her

Her Father

An early view of public service

Public service was part of Alyson’s life from an early age. Her father, Michael Sullivan, served as a state representative for the 7th Plymouth District before later serving as Plymouth County District Attorney and U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.

Alyson recalls joining him on the campaign trail as a child and watching firsthand the time and responsibility involved in public service. In her account, those experiences shaped her understanding of the importance of listening, showing up, and helping people.

Her Mother

A foundation at home

Alyson describes her mother as the heart of their family. Raising four children, she taught Alyson through her example about strength, compassion, sacrifice, hard work, and the importance of family.

Alyson credits her mother with teaching her to stay grounded, treat people with kindness, and be there for the people who need her.

The lessons I learned from both of my parents have stayed with me throughout my life.
