BOSTON –Newly-elected State Representative Alyson Sullivan (R-Abington) has been appointed to several key legislative committees for the 2019-2020 session from leadership.
Sullivan has been named a member of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary and the Joint Committee on Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery. During the 2017-2018 legislative session, these two committees helped develop and pass, respectively, a comprehensive criminal justice reform bill and legislation to enhance the state’s ongoing efforts to address the opioid epidemic. Both committees anticipate additional debate on these policy issues over the next two years.
Sullivan will also serve on the House Committee on Personnel and Administration.
“I am honored to receive these appointments to these important committees. One issue in particular, the opioid epidemic is affecting every corner of our Commonwealth. It is impacting so many communities and I look forward to get to work on this critical issue right away” Sullivan said.
“I’m pleased to welcome Alyson as one of the newest members of the House Republican Caucus,” said Representative Jones. “She has a passion for public service and a strong record of victim advocacy work, and I am confident she will do a great job carrying out her new committee assignments.”
A lifelong Abington resident, Sullivan was sworn in to the House of Representatives on January 2, 2019. She represents the Seventh Plymouth District, which includes the towns of Abington, Precincts 2, 3 and 4 in East Bridgewater, and Whitman.
